Local Muscian wins international film award

Local musician and composer John Roy, in collaboration with five others, has recently been recognised at two internationally renowned film festivals for outstanding works in film production.
Last Stand at Nymboida, a film about a band of men who, faced with the sack from their local coal mine in 1975, staged a daring worker rebellion. Forged in solidarity and mateship, it was a rebellion that would be tested by doubt and disaster - and ultimately bring about a victory of international significance.
John and this group of talented film produces have been awarded, Award of Excellence, Short Documentary and Award of Merit, History from the Indie Fest Film Festival, as well as the Special Jury 2011 Remi Award from the 44th Annual WorldFest - Houston International Film Festival for their production of Last Stand at Nymboida.
